Bio

Joe advises clients on the full spectrum of intellectual property matters. His practice includes patent prosecution, strategy, and portfolio management, as well as providing patent opinions that help clients assess risks, evaluate opportunities, and make informed business decisions. His practice also encompasses trademark clearance, registration, and brand counseling. In addition, he counsels on trade secret protection programs, risk assessments, dispute resolution, and IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions, along with strategic counseling to support investments and long-term business planning.

Joe works with individuals, small businesses, corporations, and law firms, both domestic and international. His areas of technology include the chemical, mechanical, and electrical arts, as well as related technologies across a variety of industries.

Before entering the legal profession, Joe gained engineering experience in the electromechanical and automation industries, where he contributed to the design, manufacture, and development of high-speed pharmaceutical filling machines, conveyance systems for proprietary 3-D vision-based inspection technologies, automated laboratory medical devices, and high-speed battery filling and assembly machines. He also worked as a process engineer in the steel manufacturing industry and advised a startup focused on sustainable transit packaging technology.

During law school, Joe concentrated his studies on intellectual property and served as an editor for the Review of Intellectual Property Law (RIPL). He also spent a summer studying Chinese IP Law at Peking University in Beijing.

Bilingual in English and Italian, Joe is able to assist Italian innovators, businesses, and counsel in navigating the U.S. intellectual property system with clear communication.

Outside of his practice, Joe enjoys cultivating his creativity through photography, 3-D printing, and hiking.
